ETA Launches Web-Based Grant Application Toolkit

Posted on March 04, 2010 at 07:56AM

ETA has launched a Web-based toolkit on applying for competitive grants.  The toolkit is an online suite of resources designed to help prospective grant applicants – in particular, smaller entities such as community-based and faith-based groups, as well as organizations that have not previously applied for Federal funding – understand the process for applying for ETA competitive grants and develop high-quality grant applications.  The toolkit currently houses the following resources for prospective applicants: (1) Grant Applications 101: A Plain English Guide to ETA Competitive Grants, a self-paced, interactive Web guide; (2) an Annotated Sample Solicitation for Grant Applications (SGA) Tool, an annotated version of an SGA that ETA published in 2009; and (3) a Catalogue of Grant Application Resources, a compilation of resources that may help organizations develop their competitive grant applications.  As ETA develops additional tools for grant applicants, they will be posted to the toolkit Web site.  The toolkit homepage is located at http://www.workforce3one.org/page/grants_toolkit.

ETA Partners with Federal Agencies on Energy Regional Innovation Cluster Initiative

Posted on February 19, 2010 at 02:21PM

The Department of Labor (DOL) is partnering with the Departments of Energy, Commerce, and Education; the Small Business Administration; and the National Science Foundation to launch a new initiative to support the growth of an Energy Regional Innovation Cluster (E-RIC).  In launching this initiative, the federal partners seek to develop a replicable and sustainable model for coordinated federal and regional efforts that foster regional innovation clusters.  ETA has issued Training and Employment Notice 29-09 which describes the new Energy Regional Innovation Cluster (E-RIC), and encourages the public workforce system to become partners in this multi-agency effort.  DOL and its partner federal agencies released a joint Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the E-RIC.  A public meeting and webcast about the initiative will be held on February 22.  For more information, go to: http://www.energy.gov/hubs/apply.htm
